A Travellerspoint blog

Africa bound

Only a few more weeks

overcast -9 °C

The tickets are bought. My Visa has been confirmed. All the shots have been done and the packing has started. I leave for Tanzania on Valentine's Day. I'll fly from Boston to Amsterdam then on to Tanzania. It will take almost 24 hours with some time changes. There is an eight hour time difference between home and where I will be in Tanzania.

I will be staying in a little village called Karanga, not far from Moshi, but my spot at the house isn't available until February 17th. I'll be staying at a resort at the base of Kilimanjaro for a couple days first and I'm planning on doing a two day hike on Kilimanjaro. Then someone from CCS will pick me up on the 17th to take me to the house that I will live in for the next four weeks.

I've been given a lot of detailed information about the program in Tanzania through my contact person at Cross Culture Solutions in New York. She has been extremely helpful. I have contacted one other person who will also be part of the group. Now all I have to do is wait for February 14th to get here so I can board the plane and start my new adventure. I'll be posting a blog as often as time allows me once I am there. I don't know the availability of the internet once I'm there but I think I have to go into Moshi to find service.

My camera that I bought for my last trip is not available for this trip. Seems that it isn't as waterproof as they stated. So, my current project is finding a new digital camera that doesn't cost me a fortune but does everything that I need it to do. Circuit City, here I come. I will have a ton of pictures when I return but hopefully I will be able to upload pictures while I am there. Keep checking this blog site and I'll post as often as possible.

Until then...save travels all!
